Can you believe we are in October and starting our 2nd quarter? There are a number of things happening for 2nd quarter that we need to be sure are communicated.
1. New schedule: Students are to be on zoom session from 8:30-11:50 and 12:30-1:30 Mon-Thursday. On Friday, zoom sessions are from 8:30-11:50am. I have attached the new schedule. Many of our students struggled to complete course work done during asynchronous time so we have added time with teachers to complete.
2. Most of the students have received a webcam or laptop with a webcam at this time. If you have not come by the school then we will be delivering a camera to your home. All students are required to have their cameras on during class/zoom sessions. We have spent the first quarter not being able to determine our students' level of engagement because we cannot see them. Please ensure that they are following the school's expectations for camera usage during classes.
3. The attendance rate for the first quarter was 81%. Sena High's goal is 90%. We know that remote learning is hard and not our "normal" but we will be in remote learning at least until the end of the semester, December 18, 2020. As part of our Remote Learning Plan all students are required to attend zoom class sessions daily. Attendance is taken in every zoom class session. We are pleased to see students' names pop up in our zoom sessions but attendance is also being able to "SEE" our students through the webcams and their participation within the class. Attendance is 15% of your child's grade in every class. If your child has to miss their zoom session please call the school to report their absence at 237-2374 ext 116. If we do not hear from you a support staff member will be reaching out to notify all families of student absences. Please update the school with any new numbers or addresses so we can better assist and support every family.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school.
