Dear Sena High Families, September 2018
We’re off to a great start. We hope that you joined us for our open house on August 29th. We were so excited to receive a B on our NM Grade report and had a great celebration with pizza, cake and awards!! We also hope that many of you joined our first Parent Advisory Committee meeting on September 19th. At this meeting we shared how to log on to our new parent portal to view students’ progress and attendance. If you did not attend please contact the school to get your login. The link to our portal is on our web page.
The students have settled in quickly and are diligently working in their classes. We just completed our 6th week of school and students are tracking their progress to see if they are On Target. Your child’s Progress Reports have been included in this mailing. We have also completed our Short Cycle Assessment (SCA) MAP and Open Ended Response (OER). This assessment allows us to determine where your child is meeting or not meeting Common Core standards. We use this information to determine what additional classes may be needed to remediate gaps or what adjustments will assist your students meet proficiency. We will be sharing their results at Student Led Conferences in November.
Our current attendance rate for the first 6 weeks of school is 82%. Last year at this time we were at 86%. Our goal is to be at 90% or better. We have already begun to notice some students with attendance issues. REMEMBER that Fridays are now MANDATORY!! If we are concerned about your child’s absences we will be placing them on an intervention plan. You will be contacted by the school for an intervention meeting. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 237-2374 x222.
