Mrs. Otero-Villalobos is the current board Vice President and has been a Governance Council member for 10 years. She came on board as a parent representative in August of 2011. Married with 5 children; 3 daughters who graduated from both Public and Charter school systems, her son is a Sena High Graduate.

Dr. Sena is the current board President and has completed 40 years in the field of Education as Teacher, Principal, Director of Special Education, Associate Director at two charter schools, Director of the Southwest Comprehensive Center, and Associate Director of Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations. She has served as adjunct faculty at UNM and NMHU and operated Sena Consultants, a private consultancy focusing on Charter Schools.  She recently dissolved the company and focuses on Sena Charter High School and traveling the world. 

 
Leroy Archuleta - Secretary
 

Leroy Archuleta has been a member of our Governance Council since 2017 after he retired from the City of Albuquerque Transit  System--ABQ Ride.  He is the father of three children, grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of two.   He serves at Sena High because he believes that education is primarily for advancing oneself in this world.  He earned a diploma in electronics from TVI in 1975 hoping to own a business in his hometown of Mountainair, but life intervened and he became a driver of large vehicles for several companies.  He went to work for the City of Albuquerque because of the benefits the city offers.

 

Tennise Lucas - Education Rep

Tennise comes to us in the 2022-23 School Year as our newest governance council member. She has over 20 years experience in education and believes that all students deserve second chances and correct mistakes. A fearless advocate for the disadvantaged student, from Roswell New Mexico, Tennise now serves as a subject matter expert in dual credit opportunities and safe spaces for student to flourish. Her relentess pursuit of providing safe schools in New Mexico carries into her policy work with a National Non Profit, Teach Plus, who advocates for teachers who are agents of change with a voice at the political table. 

 

Beth Ybarra - Parent and Treasurer

Beth has an extensive background in Non Profit finance, grant writing, and all things funding. She is a passionate mom of several students "who learn differently" including her son who currently attends Sena and one alumni! Beth is a passionate supporter and parent  voice at our table, and doing what's best for kids. We are excited to have her!
